Signs of Greatness

Have you ever noticed that many people have experienced some kind of attack in their childhood? Before I became a teenager, I clearly remember someone who had a lot of influence in my life constantly telling me not to talk. The person said that they hated my voice, because I spoke proper like a white person. That was an extremely confusing and painful experience. Now that I look back on it, I believe that adult saw something in me that I did not see in myself. Maybe that person sensed that one day I would use my voice to empower others. To this day, I am still impacted by that experience. I have these moments when I freeze up and cannot speak. And it always happens at the worst time. Every morning, I ask the Lord to speak through my vocal cords and to give me strength to speak.

If you have ever experienced anything painful in your childhood, that is an indicator that you have greatness inside of you. When the enemy cannot destroy you in your childhood, he will attack you as an adult. Do not allow the enemy to win. Instead, try to help someone in the area that you were attacked. For instance, if you spent time in prison in your youth, mentor another child who has spent time in prison. If you struggled with alcohol or drugs in your youth, share your story with someone who is struggling with that same issue. If you were raped as a child, share your story with a victim of rape. Our pain is our power. We are not supposed to hold on to our pain. We are supposed to use it as a tool to release the greatness that is within us.
